Burnham has spent 16 years broadcasting professional baseball. Winner of the 2011 MILB Broadcaster of the Year Award. He is currently the voice of the Richmond Flying Squirrels.
Host of the popular show Flying Squirrels Insider. FSI is a bi-monthly half hour show aired across the entire state of Virginia.
Jay is currently the TV play-by-play announcer for the VCU Rams on CBS 6 & MASN. He also is the TV play-by-play broadcaster for Longwood University on Shentel 81 and the Big South Network. Burnham also freelances for a variety of programs, including Virginia Tech and Dartmouth.
Burnham began his broadcasting career in 2003 with the Hagerstown Suns, then a Single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. He currently works as the voice of the Richmond Flying Squirrels in the Eastern League and has broadcasted over 1,600 games including three All-Star contests. Prior to Richmond, Burnham worked in the same capacity calling games for Pensacola, Asheville (Rockies) and Trenton (Yankees). He was acknowledged by Ballpark Digest in 2011 as the Minor League Baseball’s Broadcaster of the Year. In 2016 Burnham was named Baseball America's Best Broadcasting Prospect. Burnham currently serves as the TV play-play-play announcer for the VCU Rams on MASN and CBS 6 in Central Virginia. He also provides TV play-by-play for Dartmouth College on ESPN 3 as well as calling action for Longwood University on the The Big South Network and Shentel 81. Burnham's busy schedule is filled with over 40 televised games each year.
Burnham also hosts the bi-monthly, half hour television show called "Flying Squirrels Insider" on WCVE in Central Virginia. The show features desk segments, behind-the-scenes looks and interviews with current and former players. Only a few MILB teams in the country can boast such an asset.
